Tigrinya (ትግርኛ; also spelled Tigrigna) is a Semitic language commonly spoken in Eritrea and in northern Ethiopia's Tigray Region.[2] It is also spoken by the global diaspora of these regions. Indigenous people in the Eritrean highlands and in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia speak it as their first language.
